The following occurs on some Windows XP systems, and it may occur on other Windows systems as well:
When you place the CD into your CD-ROM drive, your system may start scanning the files on the CD. Simply click on CANCEL (it may think it's a picture CD). After clicking CANCEL, you may then get a dialog box asking what type of CD it is. Again, just click CANCEL.
STEP 1: Open up the CD-ROM folder.

STEP 5: Double-click "SETUP" to begin installation. This initial setup installs "Sysadm" on your PC (be sure to have it put an icon on your desktop for easy access).
STEP 6: Now double-click the Sysadm icon on your desktop (or use your Start menu to run Sysadm).
STEP 7: In the Sysadm Tool, click on the TIS menu, and choose "Install".
This installs all the files needed for TIS (may take awhile). During installation, specify that you want a TIS icon on your desktop (for easy access).
STEP 8: After TIS is installed, double-click the TIS icon on your desktop (or use your Start menu to run TIS).
When the window "Important Information on Using TIS" is displayed, click CLOSE.
Click on "Vehicle Identification" button, then enter the last 7 characters of your VIN number, and then click the big triangle pointing to the right at the bottom right side of the screen. You should then get a message that your vehicle is identified, and your BMW information is displayed along the bottom of the screen (Series, Model, Year, Engine and Gearbox).
From there you can select Symptom, Graphics, or Document button to explore the CD.
